I have found that all the bases on the 'post on top' Jiminy's are opaque. Those with one or two hat posts going through his skull are a little more translucent and you can see a number or letter. Some of the numbers or letters are legible while the others look as though they were imprinted to be read from the inside of the inner sleeve. I believe these are just mold marks.
